It’s been about 6 months now since I have started this blog and there was always something bugging me in the back of my mind. There was something missing and I could not figure out what.ย  Then when going through all the posts, I realized that I never really explained what a BT is. No description, Nothing! I just started rambling about my buddy Ivar and never gave you the basics! So here is some good Boston Terriers information ๐Ÿ™‚

The Boston Terrier is a true All-American dog. Bred in the city of Boston in the 1800s, this dog was originally created by crossing an English Bulldog with a white English Terrier. Bostons have been called other names and some people still call them Boston bulls. Today, the Boston Terrier is one of the most popular breeds in the United States, known for its friendly personality and wide variety of colors and markings.

Physical Characteristics

Boston Terriers come in a wide variety of short coat colors, including black, brindle, seal, red (also called brown) and white. They usually have a white chest and belly, and their tails can be either straight or screw-shaped. Some also have a long tail. We are actually seing a lot more of these. Our buddy Ivar has a long tail. some say he’s not pure, well he’s pure love and joy to us and that’s all that matters.

About our position on pure breed—–>Why I love my Boston Terrier so much?

Boston Terriers typically weigh between 10 and 25 pounds, making them a small to medium-sized breed. They are about 14 to 18 inches tall at withers. They feature a Brachycephalic type of head (squashed face) and upright ears.

Temperament

Boston Terriers are known for being intelligent, friendly dogs that get along well with people and other animals. Oh yeah! Boy does he love our cat Lemmy! He’s always trying to cuddle with him and clean him! lol

They are often described as “pleasers,” as they love to make their owners happy. Boston Terriers are also fairly active dogs, and they need daily exercise to stay healthy and happy. An average of 20 to 40 minutes a day is fine but a lot more cuddling time is needed ! They don’t bark much but are very protective. Ivar is alway there to warn us that there is unusual activity on our street by letting out a little growl looking outside the window.

If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who will bring joy to your life, then a Boston Terrier might be the perfect dog for you!

Conclusion

Are you looking for a small dog with a big personality? Then you should definitely consider adding a Boston Terrier to your family! These lovable pups are known for their intelligence, friendliness, and love of exercise. Since we welcomed Ivar in our home, our lives have literally changed for the better. As you have probably read throughout our posts, he’s there for us everyday to share our joy and to ease our pain. Hands down the best dog I ever had.

  • Truth be told I don’t know much about many dog breeds unless there’s a giveaway in their name, like a Boston terrier. The is wonderful information for someone who is looking to add a companion to their family. Knowing the history of certain dog breeds certainly adds a little bit of context to the overall personality of the dog, especially ones that have multiple breeds in their history.
