Health Coverage

Katching!!  $$$ Expenses ahead!
Dog health insurance coverage is more important now than ever before, as the rise of pneumovirus in dogs can be expensive to treat. Insurance not only allows the dog owner to provide the best care for their beloved pooch – regardless of the cost – but also helps protect the overall well being and longevity of the pup. Pet owners care deeply about their furry friends and the rising costs associated with better care can often put them out-of-pocket. With insurance that covers the fees, they can offer the kindest, most complete care without worry. As a result, pet parents are more likely to seek the highest standards possible when it comes to the health of their furry family members, ensuring the longest and happiest life for all involved.

Liability Coverage

When it comes to best dog insurance policy, nothing is more important than understanding what type of liability coverage you’re getting. Every pet owner should research thoroughly so that they know exactly what kind of protection their four-legged friend will have! Every plan is different, and has its own advantages and disadvantages, which include things such as the price tag, available add-ons, and whether pre-existing conditions are covered.  Is your dog a biter? Does he dig around in places he shouldn’t? Does he run away often? Those are questions you have to ask yourself before subscribing to a policy. Though this process may seem confusing or daunting at first, with a bit of research you’ll be able to find the best plan for your pup. It may even end up being cheaper – and way more comprehensive – than you’d expect! Bottom line: liability coverage should be considered carefully before making any decisions when it comes to getting the best dog insurance policy.

Accident Coverage

Dog insurance can be a great way to protect yourself from any unforeseen or unexpected accidents, and best of all, you don’t have to open up your wallet until it’s necessary! The best dog insurance providers out there offer a variety of coverage plans that typically cover much more than one might expect.

Commonly covered items include veterinary visits, pet illnesses and accidents, breed-specific issues, medication and, in some cases, even death due to illness or accident. But rest assured that no matter the plan, finding the best dog insurance provider for you and your pup is truly an individualized decision – you know best what you need at the best price! So shop around, do research online and make your best choice on the best plan for your best friend.

Best Dog Insurance Plans

When shopping for the best dog insurance plans, there are a few key aspects to consider: cost, deductible, reimbursement and coverage cap. But what exactly do these terms mean?

Premiums are best described as the amount you pay on an ongoing basis for your policy.

A deductible is the amount you must pay each year before your insurer begins covering expenses; once the deductible limit has been reached, the insurer will begin paying out according to the plan’s reimbursement schedule.

Lastly, a coverage cap is exactly what it sounds like – it’s the maximum amount which can be paid out for treatments or care for illness or injury.

So when looking for dog insurance plans that best suit your needs, make sure to review all of these important elements!

Conclusion

There is a lot to consider when it comes to insurance plans. We have not subscribed to any so far but we are in the process of shopping. Lately, Ivar has had more allergic reactions than usual and it starts to add up. One thing I didn’t mention is that you should talk to other dog owners and see what they have as coverage, who they are with and how well they are satisfied. I’m not one to take everything an owner tells me as granted but I think it’s a good way to broaden your horizon on subjects like this. They can bring an aspect to the conversation that I did not cover and if it’s the case for you, do not hesitate to comment in the section below as it could be very helpful to a lot of people.

I like to let my readers do their own research but I did find a very interesting page that I will share with you as it is more detailed and specialized than my article. They are an insurance magazine therefore they go deeper in the subject and I think you will find very good insights.

Very well written and informative page here

  • Your take on pet insurance is spot on.  We learned the hard way with not having it,  We have a black lab that has had serious health issues her whole life.  While she is a great dog that is amazing around kids, she has cost us a fortune.  With our new puppy we immediately opted in for per insurance and it has already paid of getting coverage for her.  For future reference, how many different insurance companies would you suggest would be the optimum number for comparison shopping?  Thanks

    • Hi Dave from Ohio! Thank you for your input. I’m sorry you had to learn the hard way with your lab😐 To be honest we are still shopping and very busy lately so I can’t really answer you question on how many companies we should look into. It depends what type of shopper you are I guess. Personally, I shop until my instinct tells me that’s the right one. I try to push people to follow their instinct and needs rather than tell them what’s the right one. Everything is personal, especially when it comes down to your furry family member 😊

  • These days, pet insurance is very important for dog owners. Although I’m not a dog owner, my parents had to deal with medical bills without having pet insurance.

About two years ago, my parents’ dog was fighting a minor form of cancer. They put him through chemo and radiation, but they had to pay out of pocket.

Although their dog beat out the cancer, it became a money pit without having pet insurance to cover for the bills. So they could have saved a whole lot of money.

Are there any recommendations you can provide to your readers? What do you think is a reasonable premium to pay for only one pet?

Great article to read- thanks for sharing.

    • Thanks for sharing your experience. It must have been quite a tiring one for your parrents! I usually don’t make recommendations on budget because everyone is different and even we are different as time goes by. 20$ to me nowadays isn’t the same as it was 10 years ago. I think the affordable premiumis the one that don’t get you broke but covers enough to help you provide when need comes.

      Come again soon Eric!
